Job Summary

This temporary post is to provide additional staff resource in the structures team to deal with a peak in workload relating to technical approval of developer/third party submissions.

The candidate will have extensive track record in checking and commenting o third party structural designs for highway structures. This will require extensive knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works, Structural Eurocodes and British Standards.

1. JOB PURPOSE

Under the general supervision and guidance of the Senior Engineer, to be responsible for design of strategic highway civil engineering works.

2. MAIN DUTIES

(a) To design highway works including the use of AutoCad and Moss MX.

(b) To design surface water drainage, including the use of WinDes.

(c) To prepare detailed bills of quantities, estimates.

(d) To prepare works specifications and project information.

(e) Compile design risk assessment and management measures.

(f) To carry out other duties which are commensurate with the grade of the post.
