Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer – Network Services Architect
A leading Defence / Military Systems house with long term commitment to providing & delivering a modern Secure tactical communication system into the MoD to be rolled out across Land, Sea & Air platforms are currently looking to fill a key position within the Network Infrastructure division of the project. This role will play a significant part in shaping the present and future element of the programme.
The successful applicant will have knowledge of Data networking fundamentals and an understanding of the protocol characteristics required to operate in bandwidth-constrained, unreliable and high-latency networks. Good knowledge of IP networking and the TCP/IP protocol suite. Gateways and data bridges. The role will also require the individual to technically lead and undertake Requirements Management and Systems Engineering design work for the validation of the network infrastructure solution for the programme. Experience of customer / client interfacing. Allocating requirements, define and document system design. Oversee the development of feasibility studies & prototypes. (Interoperability with external systems and infrastructures). Exploration of existing land and satellite based communication bearer systems (e.g. Falcon, Skynet V etc). An understanding of UML would also be required, as would knowledge of Systems Management and configuration Management Systems. Use of Artisan RtS or other UML Case/Modelling tools.
