Our client is a small to medium sized main contractor with a steady and growing turnover; they are an established business with an excellent pipeline of work in place for the remainder of this year and into 2011. They work in the housing, education, healthcare, residential and commercial sectors. They carry out new build, D&B, refurbishment, fitout, special works and maintenance.

They enjoy a lot of repeat business with their key clients, they have a first class training & personal development scheme in place, there is a great team culture and there are excellent career prospects for the right person.

They now have a vacancy for an ambitious Construction Manager/Director Designate to join the senior management team and within a relatively short and proven period of time take up the mantle of Construction Director. This is a key strategic appointment and is part of my clients succession planning. The position will report into the MD.

Essential
� Successful at building, motivating and sustaining a first class construction team around you, including Contracts Managers and Site Managers
� Must have a stable career track record in main contracting, showing success and achievement along the way
� Good technical construction knowledge, capable of overseeing and running projects from inception to completion and handing over a first class job
� Contract knowledge should include Traditional Contracts, D&B, Minor Works, PPC2000 and Frameworks
� Have the drive and ability to oversee and control a variety of new build and design and build projects, average project values are c�2-4m and occasionally higher up to �8m
� Ability to manage problems and provide practicable solutions, decisive and clear headed, ability to advise at Board level
� A good negotiator and excellent communicator
� Confident about your ability with the capacity to develop client relationships
