Description		Our client is a leading provider of enterprise-class data storage subsystems and storage infrastructure manufacturing equipment & automation solutions. Job Overview: This is a new opportunity for a software engineer / team leader to join a successful electronics company in Hampshire. The company is involved with the design, development, manufacture and support of sophisticated automated test systems that are used in high volume electronics manufacture. The role will involve a mix of hands on development, project management and planning, also you will take some responsibility for career development and leading the team (6-8 software engineers). Furthermore you will be involved with working alongside project managers, architects and clients to agree tasks, time-lines, trade-offs and task distribution as part of the project plan. The role and its responsibilities will vary according to projects and work load but typically will involve equal shares of hands on software development and management with a view to move to full time management in the future. The ideal candidate will have a good �€œsystems appreciation�€ focused on feature and product delivery rather than individual components. Also it would suit somebody looking to become a full time functional manager. Skills / Knowledge Required: - A degree or equivalent in a relevant subject would be ideal (e.g. computer science, software engineering, electronics) - Knowledge of Python, C/C++ - Able to develop software for Linux and / or Windows platforms - Able to promote mature software processes (ideally having worked within CMM / CMMi companies) - Team leader / management ability coupled with project management ability would be preferred - Knowledge gained within a similar domain would be useful (especially automation, mechatronics, robotics etc) Others beneficial skills: - The ability to balance and work on a variety of software projects (perhaps having gained exposure via a software house working on a variety of outsourced projects) - Knowledge of Scrum or similar development methods and practices would be ideal (e.g. Agile) - An understanding of hardware / electronics would be useful as would knowledge of embedded software, firmware and / or mechanical engineering The role may require travel to the USA or South East Asia To apply for this position, candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK Matchtech Group Plc is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
