Our locally based client is looking for the following:

IT Support Specialist

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Main function(s) of post

Support the IT Infrastructure (Office & Production)

Main duties and tasks

Data Comms
*Monitoring of data connections to customer interfaces and HQ
*Ensure daily delivery of data transmissions from customers into production systems
*Setup and configuration of data transmissions for new and existing customers

System Maintenance
*Weekly security audits
*Weekly patch management updates checks

System checks
*Daily maintenance checks of business critical systems
*Daily security checks of business critical systems
*Daily backup schedule of business critical systems
*Daily event log monitoring using LAN administration tools

System Strategy
*Install new systems (Workstations, Servers, SAN, Network)
*Install commercial and in house software
*Design and implementation I.T systems as required

User Maintenance
*Creation
*Deletion
*Modification
*Management of user rights and permissions

Projects
*Undertaking new project work as requested by business

Documentation
*Produce and maintain documentation structure of network assets
*Raise RFC's as required to implement changes
*Produce and maintain documentation for system maintenance, strategy and user maintenance

Security
*Compliance of their clients and Customer directives and regulations on operational, system and process methodology are of paramount importance to our client's company and to your tasks and responsibilities.
*You are required to ensure that the integrity of systems and procedures under your control are maintained at all times in order to successfully meet the standards of their clients and Customer audits.
*Regularly check for, investigate and if appropriate disable accounts that have been unused for one month or longer.
*Regularly review the system security logs for attempted unauthorised access to accounts, files and system privileges; and in any case on a weekly base

System Administration
*Performing initial configuration of the system
*Initial set up of all new accounts
*Manage and maintain software/asset management systems
*Setting up the initial network configuration
*Setting up the initial folder structure \ permissions
*Performing system backups, software upgrades and recovery, including the secure storage and distribution of the backups and upgrades to an off-site location.

General
*This job description outlines the current main responsibilities for the post; however these may change and develop over time. You may be asked to perform other reasonable duties commensurate with the needs of the department and the company.
*All employees are required to observe standards and guidelines relating to security, confidentiality, equal opportunities and health and safety.
*This post will be allocated security access rights to perform the necessary duties of the position. Levels of access will be determined by the Security and IT Managers.

THE PERSON SPECIFICATION

Desirable

Competencies & Knowledge
*Experience in a 3rd Line IT Support Role (Incident/Problem/Change Management)
*Microsoft MCTS, MCITP and ITIL Foundation advantageous
*Familiar with operating systems: Win2003/2008/XP/WIN7/VMWare
*Active Directory Administration
*Office Applications (2003/2010)
*VMWare vShpere environments
*Netapp FC SAN technologies
*Lotus Notes
*Experience of fully switched networked environments, VLAN's, routing and data transmission protocols - Understanding of Cisco switches
*Good understanding of Firewall principles (Checkpoint/Juniper)

Skills

General knowledge and experience
*Able to fit into a new environment quickly and integrate well into the existing team
*Strong Project Management skills with the ability to take ownership of IT infrastructure changes
*Willingness to learn and develop within the role

Network administration
*Very good experience of network, server, storage and client administration
*Ensure the maintenance and continued uptime/availability of the server and SAN infrastructures
*Active Directory Administration
*AV deployment and maintenance
*Symantec BackupExec Administration
