£40,000 - 45,000 + Pension

My client, a market leader with a global reputation in manufacturing products for the transport/materials handling industry, currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Design Engineer.

The ideal candidate will have some experience in whole product design and leading a team of engineers.

Required Skills & Experience

*Design experience for manufacture and assembly - relevant engineering experience especially welded fabrication
*Proficient in using 3D CAD ideally Unigraphics NX 3D and Solidworks
*Educated to degree level in mechanical engineering
*Experience of component stress and fatigue evaluation
*Previous experience at managing project teams

Role & Responsibilities

*Lead a small team of design, production and development engineers to complete project work to given time scales, budget and specification.
*Recommend improvements in product design
*Ensure product design complies with current legislation
*Interpret customer requirements in the construction industry
*Ensure best practices are applied throughout the design and development process
*Oversee projects from concept design through to full production
*Develop concept designs and associated calculations from a management brief
*Support all other company departments and customers with technical answers to product related problems
*Ensure all product data is produced by the team including 3D models, detail drawings, welding jigs, laser and robot programmes, technical files, product specification technical publications.
