Our exclusive client is a specialist manufacturing business based in the Winchester region. This role is focused on the Design Engineering of large capital equipment, process equipment, machine design projects from initial concept through to completion, commissioning & installation. Our client is interested in candidates with this industry experience but may consider other experienced mechanical design candidates looking to develop into this area. Ultimately a candidate with a good mechanical degree and some work experience in the design office may be able to be trained up. Our client would prefer candidates with a good grounding in engineering principles and their application.
Therefore the ideal candidate will have the following criteria;
* Mechanical Degree and a good grounding in engineering principles and their application (rather than focussed towards end products )
* Relevant experience in a design office (but may be able to be trained up further)
* Good maths and scientific calculation skills (please ensure you detail formula's, calculations and data analysis skills on your cv)
The relevant industrial experience and skills required for this role are below, please detail on your application any experience of these;
Basic structural design and simple stress analysis of structures
Calculation of dynamic loads
Sheet metal design, particularly design for manufacture.
Piping systems for saturated and superheated steam
Basic thermodynamics
Air handling and ducting systems
Selection and specification of centrifugal fans
Design and selection of drives with geared motors
Automatic positioning systems - electrical and pneumatic
Process instrumentation for pressure, flow and temperature
Combustion and heat transfer
Heat and mass-balance
Safety of machinery
Awareness of cost implications of design
Practical engineering (hands on) of fabrication, sheet metal work, welding, machining, assembly work.

Our client has advised what they mean by a good "Mechanical Degree" are these typical subjects covered / specialised in a Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent course:
Chemistry
Stress analysis and or FEA / Stress analysis (of simple structures)
Dynamics / Applied Mechanics
Fluid mechanics / Fluid dynamics:
Thermo Dynamics
Heat Transfer
Materials science and or strength of Materials or engineering Materials
Production/manufacturing engineering
Instrumentation and Controls
