An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Product Development Technologist/ Chef

Reporting into the NPD Manager, the purpose of this role is to develop and innovate the product range. They aim to develop profitable products to exceed the expectations of their customers, which include ALL the major retailers.
The successful person will work from initial concept through to bakery trial phase, taking commercial (e.g. manufacturing capability, true cost) constraints into consideration. The role will require someone who can closely liaise with the Sales & Marketing team ensuring NPD requirements meet customer needs at all times. You will keep fully aware of market place trends in order to identify new product opportunities. Other duties will include preparing and delivering presentations to customers, preparation of costings and deputising for the NPD manager as required.
To achieve in this role you will have an innovative and creative approach to development with a genuine passion and enthusiasm for food. You will be a pro-active team player with excellent planning, organising and communication skills. You will not only demonstrate attention to detail, but also be able to promote high standards in others. The nature of the role dictates that they are looking for an individual who can work under the pressure of deadlines and also has a flexible approach to working. Numeracy and basic IT skills are essential, as is the confidence to work with people at all levels.
Location: Leicester
Salary: Dependent upon experience
Package: Final salary pension, BUPA, Profit share option, on site Gym
Job Requirements:
- Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the food industry, in a development role.
- A Food Science or similar qualification
- IT literate
- Be able to work in a team and within structured timelines.
- Be able to work with a wide variety of people throughout the organisation.
- Good numerical skills and commercial appreciation.
