Our client is one of the largest of most prominent engineering consultancy services providers in the UK. One of their main divisions, Communications, is involved in areas such as Managed Infrastructure, Global Networks, Telecommunications and Digital Media
The Business Development Director will be responsible for the delivery of sales and related revenue /margin for radio broadcast and wider media clients across a variety of distribution platforms. Additionally, the Business Development Director will be responsible for, in conjunction with the Media Services management team, development and delivery of growth strategies.
The Business Development Director will be responsible for a range of activities required to develop, support and grow market share of existing clients.
$2022; Development of commercial distribution propositions, co-ordinated with operations, which result in an increase to in-year broadcast revenues
$2022; Line management of the account management function as well as the on-going development and maintenance of an account development programme for key accounts
$2022; Review of customer long term strategic plans, ensuring alignment with the wider Media Services strategy
The Business Development Director will have responsibility for identifying developing and closing new business.
This will include:
$2022; Identification of new sales opportunities, through both formal tendering opportunities and informal market channels
$2022; Development of tailored solutions in liaison with colleagues within Media Services or across the wider company
$2022; Leadership of major opportunities, either within Media Services or those which cross multiple capabilities and impact multiple revenue streams
$2022; Establishment and development of long-term sustainable customer relationships/partnerships
$2022; Maintenance of a comprehensive sales pipeline, record of bids and a bids library
$2022; Analysis of results and identification and implementation of opportunities to improve sales success rates
The Business Development Director will develop, in conjunction with the Management team, the wider business strategy.
This will include:
$2022; Identification and analysis of market trends, identification of new business opportunities aligned to strategy with a 'roadmap' to delivery
$2022; To be part of the ideas incubation for Media Services strategy
$2022; Review of internal capabilities, both within Media Services and across the wider business and the identification of gaps against the strategic plan / delivery 'roadmap'
$2022; Development and coordination of collateral which supports the wider strategy and specific opportunities
Qualifications & Requirements
The Business Development Director must have a wide understanding of a variety of media platforms, technologies and industry trends. A key part of the role will be to maintain/ develop industry knowledge as well as a wide range of industry contacts across both major UK and international broadcasters.
In addition to the above, the successful candidate is likely to have the following skill set and experience:
$2022; Educated to degree level or an equivalent professional qualification/ experience
$2022; Have the ability to identify new areas of growth and develop clear strategies to deliver revenue
$2022; Be an excellent negotiator with experience of closing complex deals within the broadcast sector
$2022; Ability to develop innovative technological solutions to problems and maximise opportunities
$2022; Strong customer relationship development and partnering skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to act as a credible advocate for the Company
$2022; Ability to analyse and interpret complex financial information and experience with budgetary planning and control
$2022; Knowledge of content distribution and transmission principles, primarily in a radio environment (analogue AM/FM, DAB, DRM , etc.)
$2022; Knowledge of one or more of the following other technologies and their application within the Broadcast and Media environment: Digital TV, DVB-S and digital compression, coding and multiplexing, IP Networks, MPLS, etc.
Description of Location
This role will include national and international travel.
