Job Title: Book-keeper/Finance Assistant
Location: Horsham, Haywards Heath, Guildford, Billingshurst
Skills: Previous bookkeeping/accounts experience is essential, along with good working knowledge of Excel and Sage. Due to the rural location of the business a driver with own transport will be required.
Responsibility for the financial transactions and financial management
Responsibility for ensuring that there is a full and accurate audit trail from the individual financial transactions of the business to the reported statutory and management accounts
To ensure the complete, accurate and timely processing of all transactions within the accounting ledgers
To be responsible for the preparation of, and submission of returns in relation to all PAYE and VAT activities required by HMRC
Undertake all record keeping of income and expenditure of the Group, ensuring that the accounting ledgers reflect a true and accurate record of all business transactions, including the production of end of year Trial Balances for the Groups businesses
Take full responsibility for the processing of Payroll for the Group. To include the processing of starters and leavers, calculating employees gross and net pay, producing payslips and preparing & submitting all HMRC PAYE returns
Take full ownership for VAT accounting, including the calculation, production and submission of VAT Returns for HMRC
Take ownership for monthly reconciliations of all financial control accounts. This to include Bank Reconciliations, Payroll & VAT control accounts, and Creditors & Debtors ledgers
Carry out activities in relation to sales ledger control, including the reporting of aged debt, and chasing debt with customers on behalf of management
Production of monthly management accounts by key business area, with support provided to management in understanding variances from budgets and/or prior years
Work with management in ensuring that all payments due to HMRC are made in accordance with HMRC deadlines
Calculating and providing analysis/payments due for sales incentive schemes in place across the Group
Undertake some sales and margin reporting and analysis, as required
Working within a small team you will have previous experience working in a book-keeping or accounting environment.
Good communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
Good computer skills, especially with Excel and Sage
Ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines
An eye for detail
Self motivated and works well with limited direction
