Design & Innovation Engineer (Team Leader)

Product Design - Insights, Innovation, Inspiration - Lead our front end design team - Mechanics/Engineering Consumer Product Environment

Due to our global expansion we are now looking to recruit a Research & Innovation Team Leader/ Senior Product Designer with consumer product experience to join our Design & Development team.

The Role
•Ability to understand consumer and user insights and competitor intelligence and generate a range of solutions to meet the needs identified.
•Works strategically, disseminating knowledge to identify potential gaps and opportunities and help to formulate new design briefs.
•Prioritises the consumer research / insights to determine the driving force behind design activities.
•Inspires, empowers and encourages idea generation.
•Gather comprehensive information in new materials and technologies to aid the resolution of identified problems and produce new ideas, approaches and ultimately innovative products.
•Responsible for delivering inspirational concepts, which move us forward as a brand. Communicate ideas effectively (utilising tools such as sketching, rendering, 3D CAD and prototyping) to sell in strategies, ideas and details.
•Objectively reviews a range of concepts against a framework of key considerations to identify winning ideas or improvements
•Engages key stakeholders around concepts and design activity
•Shares best practice with the wider Design & Development team.

The Person
An innovator at heart our ideal candidate will have a Product Design/ Industrial Design background and will be capable of turning insights into ideas. Leading our front end team you will thrive in a creative forum where winning concepts shape the future of our NPD. A hands on approach and the ability to 'sell' concepts from a commercial view point is essential.
