JOB TITLE: Cost Estimator
SALARY: £35-45,000 plus Heath Scheme, Life Insurance, Final Salary Pension, On-going Training & Development

Immediate interviews available for an experienced Cost Estimator based in Lancashire.
We seek a Cost Estimator to join our Finance department in an established Engineering environment. We are one of Britain's leading manufacturing companies & are a global technology leader in design, manufacture and customer support of high quality light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles under various successful nameplates.
We are looking for a Cost Estimator with previous experience in an Engineering / Manufacturing environment.
ROLE:
To determine the financial consequences of product innovation, quantifying the impact of decisions and investments on product cost.
REPORTING TO:
The Cost Engineer will report to the Engineering Accountant
MAIN TASKS:
Determine the target cost price of components and systems during the development process.
Initiation of actions to meet the cost price targets.
Establish the related investment for specific tooling and equipment at suppliers and within our facilities.
Analyse supplier quotes for product costs and related investments.
Establish cost estimates for product and tooling costs for in-house manufacture and at external suppliers.
Establish cost estimates of production processes and execute feasibility studies for alternative production methods.
Participate in multifunctional teams and support the decision making process by offering adequate cost information regarding process choices and assist in purchasing negotiations.
The role will work in close cooperation with Product Development, Purchasing, Product Planning and Production Engineering.
EDUCATION/SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Education to degree level preferably in mechanical engineering, automotive engineer or comparable.
Pressing and fabrication cost estimating expertise is a necessity.
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of different manufacturing process common in automotive and truck industry.
Six Sigma trained
Excellent IT skills
Able to make reliable estimates of cost consequences based on limited technical information
