Production Engineer
Production Engineer – High Value, Low Volume complex Mechanical Assemblies.
Production Engineer experienced in supporting the manufacturing of high value, low volume complex manual assemblies through preparation of documentation, developing methods, jigs and help with some process planning, a hands on can do attitude is vital, any Lean experience or background would be very useful.
The Production Engineer will provide manufacturing engineering support and facility management expertise to ensure the efficient, cost effective production of products, which meet the quality requirements of the business. Extensive liaison with external suppliers, internal management, manufacturing facility provide advice also to Non-Manufacturing. Functions e.g. facilities and site services.
The Production Engineers Responsibilities will include -
1. To determine the best methods of manufacture available, relative to existing and planned resource, ensuring the creation of the necessary information to provide timely implementation and communication with other functions within the Company.
2. To identify potential for cost effective improvements to the manufacturing process, analyse performance and alternate methods, draw up detailed recommendations for approval.
3. To co-ordinate and implement changes including the introduction of new equipment, assembly fixtures and fittings or changes in production methods.
4. To liaise with the Design Engineering offices regarding engineering changes, ensure that all processes and facilities are revised to reflect revised product requirements, update records in accordance with procedures.
5. To lay out office and assembly areas, present proposals and implement authorised changes, if necessary, through the control of external suppliers and sub-contractors.
6. To assist manufacturing personnel in the resolution of problem issues analyse and make proposals to avoid recurrence and liaise with all departments to implement necessary changes.
7. To keep up-to-date on assembly and manufacturing method and systems by reading professional, technical and product information, identifying areas for future development within the Company.
8. To participate in the maintenance of site services and justification and planning of major plant installations/refurbishment.
9. To carry out other work as directed by General Manager.
Production Engineer - Person Specification -
• Aptitude for mechanical work including the understanding of basic mechanical processes.
• Experience in the design of fixtures and tooling
• Experience in dealing with tooling suppliers
• Experience in CAD CAM packages
• Attention to detail, ability to work precisely and accurately to instruction/drawing.
• The ability to work well as part of a team is essential.
• Flexible and adaptable to be able to meet changing requirements within the business.
• Degree, HND, HNC in Engineering.
