JOB DESCRIPTION

OVERALL SCOPE & SUMMARY OF JOB: To work as the daily workload dictates, in Goods Receiving / Factory / Finished Goods Store, to receive, locate, process, pack and ship Raw Materials, Components and Finished Goods. To providing an effective service to both Internal and External Customers, in line with current Procedures.

PURPOSE OF JOB To maintain controlled and uninterrupted flow of Materials in and out of the Company.

KEY ACTIVITIES
(1)Booking in via Computer system incoming supplies.
Periodic checks of delivered quantities as directed. Monitor and seek guidance from Buyers on early deliveries when identified.

(2)Visual examination of receipts for damage and incompleteness reporting any anomalies to QA. This also applies at any stage of the stores processes

(3)The Distribution of supplies throughout the Factory, to system locations.

(4)Resolution of Booking in and accounting queries. Accurate completion of Goods Inwards records via the Epicor system.

(5)Safe use of Forklifts and equipment in the Loading and unloading of vehicles. Locating and picking of stock from “Hi-Bay” locations. Observation of manual handling regulations.

(6)To undertake daily PI’s (stocktakes) and participate in the (currently) 6 monthly stocktakes.

(7)Maintain tidy well organised areas with segregation of Received Materials, Customer returns, Engineer returns, Goods for Inspection, Complaint material, rejects and free issue materials, stock, WIP and Materials prepared for despatch.

(8)To accurately pick kits for Production, Engineers and Customers ensuring adherence to the appropriate procedures and Batch controls. Participate in random “Buddy” checks. Identify and make known any potential problems.

(9)To ensure that Materials are appropriately packed for each application (Production, Engineers and Customers) in line with Company Procedure’s and Specifications.

(10)To accurately undertake all Computer related operations, Kardex shuttles, Pick confirmations. Customer and Engineer returns. Good understanding of the Epicor MRP system is required.

PERSONAL QUALITIES

(1)Computer literate, numerate and literate, and familiar with the Stores elements of an MRP system, within a manufacturing environment.

(2)An analytical approach is useful to propose improvements to the methods and practices in use, and assist towards resolving problems,

(3)Flexible with regard to overtime and able to function under pressure. Capable of reacting to unplanned demands at short notice.

(4)Must be well organised and tidy in your approach to work. Need to be aware of the potential Hazards in the Stores environment and be prepared to highlight potential Health and Safety issues to the Stores Supervisor. Highly motivated and capable of effective teamwork.

EXPERIENCE,
(1)Current Forklift truck certificates (Counter Balance and Reach)

(2)Sound understanding of Goods Inwards and Stores, Packing and Despatch procedures. 6 months experience in a similar role (minimum), within a manufacturing environment.

(3)An Engineering background would be advantageous.

(4)Must be familiar with, and have a basic understanding of MRP. The use of Bar Code Systems would be an advantage.

(5)A good standard of Education, particularly Maths. Computer literate, particularly with Microsoft Word, Excel and Lotus Notes.
