Packaging Specialist

An innovative Packaging Professional with a strong background in delivering state of the art packaging solutions from concept through to production of Packaging for the Medical Device, Pharmaceutical and FMCG Market place is required to join one of the UK's leading technology development Consultancies to provide expertise to some of the UK's major Blue Chip companies.

The Packaging Engineer will help their clients to design, develop and launch new products with novel and cost effective packaging solutions, resolve production and automation issues. You will also improve the performance, durability and cost effectiveness of current processes and products on a project basis and across a broad range of sectors such as: FMCG Consumer Products, Consumer Healthcare, Bio-medical, Electronics &Telecommunications Products and many other applications.

With expert technical knowledge covering a range of packaging materials (polymers, metals, papers, films etc), together with associated printing and fabrication processes, the Packaging Engineer will:

Develop & Recommend the most appropriate packaging routes for new products to address cost, technology and performance challenges.
Testing and Analysis of packaging and associated materials
Advisory input to selection of materials based on bio/mechanical barrier, scalability, environmental and processing attributes
Inputs to development, conversion and manufacturing processes
Solving problems in manufacturing processes
Advise on the suitability of materials, products and processes
Supporting cost out programmes through a pragmatic hands on approach to materials, process and design selection

To be considered for the role of Packaging Engineer you will need:

Education:

Minimum 2:1 Honours Degree (or MSc/PhD) in Materials Science, Engineering, or similar Scientific or Engineering discipline
Experience within a similar Packaging Role such as Packaging Engineer OR Technologist
Excellent commercial acumen and Project Management skills
Good Client/Customer facing skills
Current driving licence and passport as occasional travel will be required

Location: Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border area (commutable from Bedford, Stevenage, Hertford, Harlow, Bishops Stortford, Huntingdon, Bury St Edmunds etc)

Salary: £32-50k plus bonus, profit share and excellent benefits.
