Business Team & Overview:
The CPPD (Collaborative Product and Process Development) Mechanical Systems Team is dedicated to the delivery of quality, on-time and cost-effective designs. The team is structured into three main systems groups (Air, Fluids and Core), all three of which are supported by design and development teams.
This particular role is part of the Development Team whose responsibility is to own component and system development activities across the whole mechanical systems team.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required:
Essential:
Knowledge of engine components and systems, preferably diesel but will consider development validation experience from gas turbine or gasoline engine background.
Engine component development experience.
Demonstrated competency in engine and component test and validation.
Knowledge and experience of DFMEA.
Desirable:
Good understanding of NVH, and CAE tools and how they are applied
Experience of 6-Sigma, APQP, PPAP
Chartered Engineer Status
Engineering degree
8D problem solving
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the CPPD Development Team Leader the Development Engineer will be responsible for both NPI (New Programme Introduction), and CPI (Continuous Product Improvement) activities. The role will focus on the mechanical development of diesel engine components from prototype through to production level, as well as developing current products to reduce cost and improve quality, across multiple Perkins engine families.
Close liaison with design colleagues, component and systems specialists, CAE, Performance & Emissions, NVH and Materials departments.
Close liaison with customers, suppliers and internal process partners, such as manufacturing, purchasing and logistics teams.
Working-level management of experimental rig tests and dynamometer engine tests.
Full responsibility for system and component DFMEAs, validation plans, and reporting.
Provide coaching to other engineers as and when required.

Excellent team player, enthusiastic and have strong values.
The ability to work under pressure with different functional areas, internal and external customers and suppliers is a pre-requisite.
