Job Profile The Principal Civil / Structural Engineer reports to the Chief Civil / Structural Engineer. On assignment to a task force with authority delegated by the Chief Engineer the job holder will report on that project either to an Engineering Co-ordinator or a Project Manager, as appropriate, as well as to the Chief Engineer. Within the Civil / Structural engineering discipline, Senior Engineers, Engineers, Draughtsmen, Designers and Trainees report to the Principal Civil / Structural Engineer.

The number of personnel reporting to the job holder at any time will be dependant upon the size of project and / or the nature and scope of the work being undertaken. Project Summary Our client is an acknowledged world leader as a contractor in the nuclear, oil and gas industries.

We have ambitious plans for expansion across the industry. As a result we are now recruiting an experienced Principal Civil / Structural Engineer into our team to support the development and delivery of interesting and challenging projects in the UK, with a range of onshore and offshore applications. Based out of their Office in Manchester your involvment will range from Concept Design and FEED studies, through to detailed design, Installation, Construction and Commissioning. Previous successful FEED and EPC projects have included Underground Gas Storage facilities, Floating LNG Production, Gas Processing Plants and Nuclear. Expansion into the Power industry will provide us with some challenging but exciting projects. Key Tasks & Responsibilities Responsibilties: *To act as Project Discipline Engineer on those projects assigned by the Chief Engineer to supervise and carry out design work on such projects and to ensure compliance with Company Health, Safety and Environment Policies, Standards and Procedures. *To be responsible for the supervision of Engineers or other staff assigned to him by the project Civil / Structural Engineer or Chief Engineer. *To be responsible for producing and checking design work in accordance with Company Procedures. Approval of design work when authority has been delegated by the Chief Engineer. *To carry out design tasks on proposals delegated to him by the proposal discipline Engineer or Chief Engineer. *To assist the Chief Engineer as instructed in administration work within the group including but not limited to preparation of Corporate Procedures, Corporate Standards, Specifications, etc. *To assist the project discipline Engineer in planning for adequate resources and in monitoring and reporting design progress and manhour usage. *To liaise with other Engineering and Support disciplines, as required. *To provide support to Sales, Construction and Commissioning departments, as required. *To make short term visits to sites in the UK and overseas, to support project and proposals needs, for Client liaison, site surveys, construction supervision, etc. *To cascade information to individuals on organisational performance, policy and procedures and to report back to senior management relevant subordinate comments and recommendations for improvements in performance and removal of constraints that are preventing performance. *To offer advice and support to colleagues and subordinates on development needs taking into account work activities, learning ability and circumstances. *To provide training, information or instruction and to give feedback. To set objectives, to assist colleagues and subordinates in achieving the objectives, to conduct performance reviews and issue them to line managers. *To be aware of legal and organisational responsibilities regarding Health, Safety and Environmental issues with respect to Employees, Contractors, Clients and third parties, ensuring that activities are managed in accordance with Company Policy and Client requirements. In the above descriptions the term 'design' is used in its broadest sense and covers design calculations, specifications, equipment selection, contract documentation and requisition enquiry / bid review / purchase order for subcontracted construction and fabrication work, and approval of subcontractors and suppliers documentation. Person Specification Desired Experience: *BSc/MSc *Chartered Civil and / or Structural Engineer or significant experience in Civil / Structural Engineering, Design and Construction. *Experience of working in petro-chemical and / or industrial process business sectors. Ideally Nuclear or Power *Competence in Civil and / or Structural Engineering in a design environment - infrastructure, foundations, steelwork and concrete framed structures and pre-asembled modules associated with process plants. *Demonstrate the ability to manage engineering / deisgn project teams, prepare specifications and estimates and requisitions for sub-contracted work. *Must have UK Based Project Experience
