Mechanical Design Engineer

DESIGN ENGINEER - Ongoing Temporary Contract minimum 6 months

Role Overview

To develop and design manufactured products. Research on product use, marketing, and materials to create the most functional, compliant and appealing product design.

Role includes:

Prepare sketches of ideas, full product development from concept to 3D models and detailed drawings using Autodesk Inventor.

Use MRP system to create full Bills of Materials.

Continual product improvement using Engineering Change Order Process.

Modify and refine designs to conform to customer specifications, production limitations, Surveyor recommendations or regulations.

Other duties:

Run trials and stress calculations on the designs.

Confer with engineering, marketing, production, and/or sales departments, or with customers, to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products.

Research production specifications, costs, production materials and manufacturing methods, and provide cost estimates and itemised production requirements.

Investigate product characteristics such as the product's safety and handling qualities, its market appeal, how efficiently it can be produced, and ways of distributing, using and maintaining it.

Participate in new product planning or market research, including studying the potential need for new products.

Production and Processing. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximising the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Candidates should possess the following skills:
Assembly & part 3D modelling
• Mechanical Engineering
• Hydraulic understanding
• Use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel

The candidate should ideally be Autodesk INVENTOR trained and have knowledge and experience of MRP systems.
