Amoria Bond is currently looking for an experienced Design Engineer to work for a world leader within the Power and Energy Industry.

Fantastic opportunity is available for the role of an experienced Design Engineer. This position for a leader in global engineering services in the Power Industry is located in the UK where you will be responsible for carrying out design support within the business including re-rate and support sales visits.

The ideal candidate for the role of Design Engineer will have a degree in Mechanical/Thermodynamics. Hands on experience with rotating machinery will be essential. Must be fluent in English and willing to travel on a world wide basis.

Key Responsibilities
Carry out thermodynamic and rotordynamic design on steam turbines
Steam Turbine - Steam path thermodynamic design and analysis
Provide design support to customers both remotely and site when required
Steam turbine rotor blade and diaphragm stressing
Turbine casing stressing and bolting design
Carry out re-rate feasibility studies
Rotor Dynamics (FEA) including bearing design review
Specify, carry out and review turbine performance trials
Review and advise on performance issues for new and "in service" machines

Preferred Skills
Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and assembly of machinery/parts
Trained and proficient in the use of turbomachinery "in house" and commercial software packages e.g. Ansys/AXStream to design and analyze both new machines, and existing machines requiring re-rates
Good awareness of heat balance calculations for turbines and their associated systems
Understanding of steam turbine's operation, control and instrumentation
FEA, CFD and rotary dynamics experience
Good communicator at all levels specifically customers and suppliers
Positive, flexible team player
