Senior Welding and Materials Engineer
Our client is a leadign oil and gas contractor with worldwide operations. They have a requirement for a Senior Welding and Materials Engineer to join their Aberdeen office on a permanent basis. The successfull applicant will be required to provide welding engineering and materials support to projects as part of a multidisciplinary team. The main focus of the role is;-
Provision of specialist knowledge and expertise to organisation including reviewing Welding and Materials procedures in connection to Spools, Manifolds, Towheads etc
Problem solving to provide solutions to the organisation in relation to Welding and Materials
Ensuring that Technical compliance is maintained in the work conducted
Providing Technical support of procurement activities including provision of specifications and resolution of technical issues
Providing Technical support of our client and subcontracted fabrication activities
Providing Technical support to tenders
Mentoring / supervision of less experienced engineers where appropriate
Interfacing with several different stakeholders including, our clients divisional offices, members of Welding and Materials team, clients, Quality department, Project Teams, Subcontractors etc
Liaison with client and Inspection Verification Body and technical authorities
Liaison with other discipline leads as part of dedicated project teams
Identification and control of discipline specific project budgets
Reviewing Welding procedures from Subcontractors Required Qualifications and Education, Skills & Experience
Degree in metallurgy/materials science or a related engineering topic is supported by additional qualifications specific to welding engineering is essential
Consideration will be given to candidates with an HNC or HND but it is essential that candidates also have extensive experience in a Welding Engineering role up to Senior Level
Other qualifications may be considered if supplemented by demonstrable and extensive relevant experience
It would be desirable for candidates to have knowledge of PS4515 and DNV OSF101
It is desired that candidates have detailed knowledge within the Welding/Materials discipline with broad knowledge of industry requirements
It is essential that the candidate has excellent team working skills and the ability to interface with several different Project teams
It is desired that candidates are confident in conveying their expertise and providing solutions to problems and queries presented to them
It is Essential that candidates have good organisational skills and smart working methods
It is essential that candidates have experience ideally within oil & gas or similar sector, with a broad knowledge of arc welding processes and materials used within the industry
It is desirable that candidates have experience in a position of technical authority
It is essential that candidates have good knowledge of relevant specifications and are experienced in developing weld procedures
Primarily office based in Aberdeen can involve travel to other sites/locations
