Description

As PC Applications Software Engineer with a growing manufacturer you will develop PC based applications to support the company's instrumentation products. Applications will range from GUIs for instrument control to data visualisation tools in a number of fields including temperature, viscosity and pressure measurement; applications will be tailored for users ranging from production process controllers through to laboratory based scientists.

Our client owns well established brands in connectors, precision instrumentation and monitoring /control and has ambitious plans for new product development and global sales expansion. The company currently expanding the multi-disciplinary engineering team based in our Cambridge Technology Centre and are looking for talented technologists who have a passion for turning creative concepts into leading products.

PC Applications Software Engineer responsibilities include:
o Develop applications on Windows environments
o Interfacing PC applications to embedded controllers
o Interfacing PC applications to wirelessly connected sensors
o Connecting PC applications across networks
o Work with other functions, such as Marketing and Production, to ensure software products meet market and production requirements

The ideal candidate for the role of PC Applications Software Engineer will possess:
" B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science or Engineering
" Experience in developing PC applications and GUI software in a commercial environment
" Knowledge of PC application development
" Knowledge of object orientated design and analysis
" Knowledge and experience in C/C++ or C# and Java
" Experience with source code control systems, e.g. SVN
" Experience with bug tracking systems
" Familiarity with cross platform GUI environments, e.g. QT

Desired experience:
" Familiarity with Linux and Mac OS X development desirable
" Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development techniques preferred
" Familiarity with PHP, Python and/or HTML preferred
