Embedded Software Engineer
Your role as the Embedded Software Engineer will be to develop embedded applications for a global manufacturers instrumentation and monitoring/control products. Applications will range from simple GUIs for instrument control to the control of sensors in a number of fields including temperature, viscosity and pressure measurement; applications will be tailored for users ranging from production process controllers through to laboratory based scientists.

Our client owns well established brands in connectors, precision instrumentation and monitoring /control and has ambitious plans for new product development and global sales expansion. The company is expanding the multi-disciplinary engineering team based in the Cambridge Technology Centre and are looking for talented technologists who have a passion for turning creative concepts into leading products.
Embedded Software Engineer responsibilities include:
o Architect embedded software applications
o Develop applications for embedded environments using C/C++
o Interfacing to PC applications through wired or wireless interfaces such as USB, Ethernet and Bluetooth or Zigbee
o Embedded control of sensors and motors using either simple interrupt driven environment or with Linux type kernels
o Work with other functions, such as Marketing and Production, to ensure software products meet market and production requirements
The ideal candidate for the role of Embedded Software Engineer will possess:
" B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent
" Solid experience of embedded applications in a commercial environment
" Knowledge and experience in C/C++ or C#
" Experience with source code control systems, e.g. SVN
" Experience with bug tracking systems
" Experience with a range of microprocessor architectures include PIC and ARM
" Familiarity with hardware/software design trade-offs
" Familiarity with object orientated design techniques
" Familiarity of simple GUIs for embedded applications
" Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development techniques preferred
