Fibre Optic Technical Manager

As the Fibre Optic Technical Manager for a global manufacturer, you will oversee the design department and provide technical direction for the development and design of new products. Relevant industry experience is essential for this role.

The Company: Part of a global multi billion dollar group, our client is a designer, manufacturer and installer of fibre management products. A recognised technical innovator, the company supports customers from exchange and transmission room design, through the production of bespoke solutions to final installation and testing of equipment on site.

Fibre Optic Technical Manager responsibilities include:
" Provide technical direction for the design and development of new products.
" Apply significant knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to customers.
" Review work of the development team at monthly meetings and hold regular status meetings.
" Secures the permanent profitability of assigned product lines.
" Forecast, inventory and shipping performance management of assigned product lines in close collaboration with Operations.
" Setting price policy of the assigned product lines.
" Reworks make - / buy decisions, process cost analysis.
" Evaluation and revision of existing patents.
" Builds the cost, sales and resource planning; cost control; finalises project activities in time; provides monthly reports.
" Contribution to competitor and benchmark analysis.
" Supports the creation of product documentation.
" Contribution to R&D and customer projects.
" Create and ensure execution of development plans and revise as appropriate to meet the changing needs of the business.
" Keep account and project managers well informed of the status of developmental efforts and serve as a liaison between them and the design team/product managers.
" Manage technical resources within budget and project schedules.
" Consistently deliver high quality services to both internal and external customers.
" Keep design team well informed of changes within the organisation and general corporate news.
" Resolve and / or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
" Understand how to communicate difficult / sensitive information tactfully.
" Oversee the maintenance of all production equipment.
" Assist Manufacturing Manager when required with Cable Manufacturing

The ideal candidate for the role of Fibre Optic Technical Manager:
" Specialised understanding of product applications.
" Specific industry knowledge.
" Experienced in communicating with all levels of customer and internal management.
