Job Position: Mechanical Engineer - Assembly Installation and Commissioning

Department: Body Tooling

Job Status: Permanent Staff Position

Job Description: The Body Dept is responsible for dealing with Weld, Paint & Final Assembly lines.

Qualifications:

BTEC or City & Guilds in mechanical engineering or similar

A technical biased associate with demonstrable & proven skills may also be considered

Experience Essential:

Understanding of engineering drawings (paper and Cad)

Building of jigs, fixtures and bench fitting

Robot teaching/programming

Computer literate in MS word, Excel, PowerPoimt

Desirable:

(Use of Motoman / Fanuc)

Robotic system integration

Experience in system up and maturation of equipment

Autocad or Catia basic operations

Responsibilities:

A practical hands on engineer is required for the assembly, installation and commissioning of equipment; ranging from small one off items to new model tooling or complete automated production cells for weld, paint and AF departments. With emphasis on robots and robotic systems

Supporting of workshop assembly/installations, liaise with project engineers

Integration of proprietary equipment to robot systems i.e. vision systems welding systems and sealer systems

Support robot teaching and trials

Supporting project engineers at project planning stages

Building of jigs, fixtures and machines from assembly drawings

Equipment commissioning support

Contractor supervision

Creation of documentation for shipping evaluations

Reviewing and support off line robot teaching and install of data to robot

Trouble shooting and fault finding on automated equipment

Additional Requirements:

Strong communication skills at all levels.

Flexible approach to work with a willingness to work weekends if required, and to support other team members if required

Desirable:

Demonstrable experience of problem solving & implementation of countermeasures.

Demonstrable experience of proactively driving through changes within current dept.

Salary/Rate:

£24,000 - £36,000 depending upon experience
