Description

The position of Senior Mechanical Engineer is a unique opportunity for a self-motivated, enthusiastic and flexible engineer to join a global manufacturers new Cambridge based R&D centre. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to a wide range of demanding technology and product development projects and immediately engage into a commercially driven and multi-disciplinary team. The position will involve taking technical roles within development projects with exposure to all aspects of development from conceptualisation through to product release. You will work in multi-discipline project teams with other mechanical, electrical/electronic and software engineers to realise technical solutions for a wide range of new product developments.

Senior Mechanical Engineer responsibilities include:
" Task Management
" Definition of technical solutions for product developments
" Leading design engineering to realise technical solutions
" Generation of concepts and layouts of systems in CAD
" Detailed design of components and products in CAD
" Design and Process FMEA
" Working with and coordinating external manufacturers and suppliers
" Tolerance analysis of designs
" FEA
" Production of detailed drawings and manufacturing specifications
" Transfer of designs to manufacture through liaison with internal and external suppliers
" Writing technical reports and producing high quality design documentation

The ideal candidate for the role of Senior Mechanical Engineer:
" Good degree in a relevant engineering subject
" Able to work to customer specifications and deadlines
" A self-starter, well-motivated and enthusiastic with creative problem solving skills
" Able to communicate and interact effectively with customers, management and other team members
" Knowledge of design for manufacture and assembly, from one off designs to high volume manufacture
" A good understanding of manufacturing techniques, assembly processes and material selection
" Significant experience of 3D CAD, preferably Pro Engineer
" Hands-on experience in leading mechanism design, stress analysis, mould flow analysis and other CAD analysis tools is also desirable
" A high level of practical experience with proven technical skills, and have spent significant time in a mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering design environment.
