The main purpose for a Packager is to service requests to create automated installs and configurations of software and environments to be deployed using HP Radia / HP AMP toolsets. Individuals capable of fulfilling this role must possess technical knowledge and experience with MSI technology, InstallShield and scripting languages such as VBScript and Shell scripting. They will also have a very good familiarity with Windows desktop and server architecture in service delivery, application development and/or desktop support environments and fully understand how these environments interact with Active Directory and Group Policy. They will also be familiar with using enterprise-level deployment tools such as Radia, alternatively SMS, SCCM, APP-V or Altiris.

Role Responsibilities
*Knowledge and adherence to ATLAS standards, security and procedures
*Progression of new requests in accordance with the priorities set by the team lead
*Completion of new packages and scripts
*Completion of all associated supporting documentation and data
*Self-certification of scripts and packages according to documented ATLAS standards
*Defect fixes and support of existing packages, MSI's and scripts
*Technical liaison and support for ATLAS solutions analysts to contribute towards specifications for new script requests
*Technical liaison and support for ATLAS test and configuration engineers to contribute to the verification of software and configuration compatibility with the ATLAS desktop and server design.
Essential Skills:
*Strong technical experience in creating MSI Packages and scripts
*Extensive VBScript programming experience within Windows Scripting Host environment, including WMI, file system management, registry manipulation and external program execution
*Familiarity with the Radia toolset
*Good knowledge of batch commands and scripting under Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP platforms
*Ability to troubleshoot and debug new and existing scripts
*Ability to quickly adapt to multiple scripting languages
*Experience of integrating products in a Microsoft-based enterprise environment
*Very good understanding of MSI technology and packaging techniques (InstallShield, Admin Studio, Wise, Orca)
*Familiarity with using MSIEXEC command line properties
*Thorough knowledge of Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP, Active Directory and group policy assignment
*Knowledge of TCP/IP-based networks
*Adherence to and understanding of mandatory locked-down desktop restrictions
*Adherence to and understanding of the impact of group policies applied through windows Active Directory
*Knowledge of VMware virtualised environments
*Ability to troubleshoot install/uninstall problems using verbose logging and event viewer
*Ability to deliver enterprise packages for desktop and server, fully zero touch with and without metadata/configurations
*Experience of enterprise level software distribution tool such as Radia, SMS, SCCM, APP-V or Altiris
*Quality control and technical documentation skills.
Desirable Skills:
*Familiarity with AMP Packaging
*Knowledge of Windows 2008 Server and Windows 7 Operating Systems PowerShell scripting
*Familiarity with configuration management tools (particularly StarTeam)
*Tcl scripting experience
*Shell (Borne/Korn) scripting experience
*Unix platform experience (e.g. Linux, Solaris, AIX).
