Service Engineer
Job Objectives
To ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by providing responsive, high quality service capability for Draeger Safety products for clients in the South of England.
To promote Draeger service throughout the area.

Reporting to the Safety Centre Team Leader
The position is based at the Draeger Gatwick Safety Centre at Redhill, Surrey and requires a self-reliant, motivated, enthusiastic person to be able to work with the minimum of supervision.
Description of duties
Service and Repair
o Carry out examination, test, service, repair and recalibration on the full range of products from the Draeger Safety portfolio, for example Breathing Apparatus including Air Containers, Chemical Protective Clothing, Thermal Image Cameras and Gas Detection instruments.
o Carry out examination, test, service, repair and recalibration on any other equipment as required.
o Carry out a range of inspection activities as covered by the Centres scope of accreditation:
o Work from the Gatwick Safety Centre at Redhill and, if required, support field service engineers at customer sites and facilities in the surrounding area.
o Liaise with field service engineers and Blyth workshop engineers as required
o May be occasions to provide out of hours service support to field service engineers in emergencies
o Be prepared for occasional overnight stays in support of work activities if required
Customer liaison
o Liaise with customers to deal with all queries in a timely and effective way.
o May be occasions to provide out of hours service to customers in emergencies by supporting field service engineers
o Provide support to Product Sales Team as required.
Personal development
o Undertake personal development and training as required
o Attend training courses as and where required
o Be prepared for occasional overnight stays in support of training activities as required
Key competencies
Communication skills (written and verbal)
Education: Recognised apprenticeship/training in mechanical or electrical engineering with knowledge of pneumatic/electronic systems preferable
Work experience: Experience in service and repair of range of relevant equipment or similar
Experience in a range of engineering inspection activities
Skills & knowledge: Excellent technical, diagnostic and repair skills
Good communication skills in English language (written and verbal)
Ability to detect and evaluate defects and understand the significance of such evaluation
Knowledge and understanding of the technology used for manufacturing items being inspected and their use
Knowledge of the use of the item being inspected
PC skills with good knowledge of MS Office
Full, clean driving licence
Attitudes: Customer focus with a positive attitude towards solving customer problems
Ability to communicate professionally with customers and present a positive image of the company
Comfortable in dealing with colleagues and customers at all levels
Confident and able to work under own initiative
Able to work effectively alone and as part of a team
Other Prepared to visit client sites as required
Prepared for occasional overnight stays away from home
Prepared to attend appropriate training courses as required
Offshore work experience and certification may be beneficial
