Food & Water Regional Microbiology Quality Officer
The role will be covering two UK Food sites on a regional basis.
The role will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the quality management systems in the microbiology departments, at the two designated sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Deputise for the Quality Manager Food and Waters in their absence, and during audits and customer visits.
Ensure that the business is compliant with ISO17025 and other quality standards and approval schemes.
Promote quality, integrity and performance improvement throughout the organisation by actively communicating with colleagues at all levels about quality matters and providing training when required.
Identify relevant quality-related training needs and coordinate their provision.
Management of audits and non-conforming work including customer complaints. Ensuring that investigators document adequate root cause analysis, actions are fit for purpose and verified for their effectiveness.
Managing the internal audit program and assign appropriate audit officers as required.
Carry out audits on site and at other sites across the group to aid in gaining best practice knowledge and supply independent perspective to site being audited:-
Assign corrective actions once agreed with the management team
Assign timelines for when corrective actions should be completed including references to the appropriate section of the
Quality Manual
Assist the site in scheduling appropriate PT scheme samples. Reviewing the PT scheme data for failures and trends. Ensuring regular staff participation in line with the in-house procedures. Ensuring that EQA failures are investigated in a timely manner, and involving technical and operations as required.
Participate in the annual management review and prepare reports for discussion.
Accompany and assist external auditors during visits to the sites. Collating and submitting evidence for close out of actions raised within the designated timescales.
Co-ordinate the collation and review of documents for external organisations e.g. UKAS, customers, retailers etc. Ensure corrective actions raised in external audits are addressed in a timely manner.
Actively participate in the management team of the sites, and to promote the continuous improvement of laboratory operations.
Carry out local quality inductions using a Powerpoint Presentation with new and/or existing staff to ensure there is a thorough understanding of the quality system and completion of the training record.
Report Quality KPIs to the Quality Manager Food and Waters on a monthly basis
