Based in London this job is an opportunity for forward thinking Senior Research Nurse to join one of the UK’s leading clinical trials virology research companies.
The company is Europe’s leading specialist virology contract research organisation (CRO). The work they conduct is dedicated to creating the next generation of antiviral drugs and vaccines for a number of respiratory and enteric viral diseases. Their research consists of laboratory based pre-clinical services and human viral challenge studies (Phase 1b and Phase 2a proof-of-concept) which are usually performed in their purpose built unique quarantine unit.
Experimental challenge studies are conducted on healthy volunteers who are infected with virus so that novel antiviral drugs and vaccines can be assessed in a controlled manner. The studies conducted are particularly useful with viruses that show seasonal infection rates in the general population, since this model enables healthy volunteers to be infected at any time of the year.
As the Senior Research Nurse you will play a key role in the provision of research nursing services overseeing the co-ordination, planning and execution of clinical studies reporting directly to the Nurse Manager / Head of Operations.
In this role your responsibilities will include:
• Providing guidance and mentoring to Research Nurses, Clinical Administrators and Clinical Support Specialists including identify staffing requirements and input to the overall scheduling of staff rota’s
• Overall responsibility for the supervision of clinical staff in the clinical and quarantine environment.
• Conducting analysis of projected study timelines, subject screening estimates and the scheduling of sufficient clinics to meet appointment demand
• Recording and tracking of study medication dispensed to volunteers during the course of the clinical trial

To be considered for the job you will hold current NMC registration, be competent in the recording of medical history, vital signs, ECG, phlebotomy and possess previous knowledge and experience of working within a clinical trials setting.
