Job Profile: My client is looking for a Design Engineer to carry out design work using independent judgment to initiate, develop, improve, adapt, modify or streamline department projects, operations, products or specifications.
You will be responsible for design integrity, cost, scheduling and manufacturability requirements as it pertains to the product.
This role is responsible for the completion of assigned activities under general direction of the Design Office Manager.
Essential Skills Experience & Qualifications:
You must have previously worked as a Design Engineer, carrying design work of structures.
You must have previous Mechanical design work, ideally with Steel.
You must have experience of using AutoCAD Inventor 3D.
You will need to have knowledge & application of Hazop, design risk matrix, risk assessments, CDM risk matrix/assessments.
You will need knowledge & application of Machinery Directive, CE marking, ATEX requirements & respective collating & filing of all data.
You must have the ability to read, analyse, and interpret complex industry related documents.
You will need to have the ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints.
You must have the ability to understand English, at advanced level via written and verbal communication.
You must be able to work with own initiative and take responsibility and ownership of workload.
You must have the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
You must have the ability to make decisions requiring the use of multiple variables in complex non standard situations.
You will have Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other MS Office programs; AutoCAD and a 3D modelling (Inventor) software application.
You will have the ability to apply advanced mathematical equations to a variety of complex non-standard situations.

You must have the ability to read and understand specification, fabrication, erection, and standard engineering drawings.
You must have knowledge of applicable codes, tables and standard reference books used for design, machining, fabrication, and assembly techniques.
You must have knowledge of drafting standard for both structural and mechanical design.
You must have knowledge and experience using analysis software for calculating stress, strain, and fluid dynamics.
You must have knowledge of drafting Engineering Manuals.
You must have knowledge of project management functions. Job Description:
You will be reviewing all applicable job data, including POs, project plans and specifications to determine characteristics of order and establishing engineering objectives.
You will be providing training, direction, and accuracy of work within the department.
You will be responsible for communicating with other departments to maintain schedules for purchasing, fabrication, construction, inspection, start-up, etc.
You will be preparing and updating layouts, detailed drawings, calculations, specifications, and documenting instructions necessary for project success.
You will be generating new ideas for product improvement, reliability, cost reduction, and recommending new patentable projects to Marketing.
You will be documenting and updating design procedures, evaluating progress and results, and recommending major changes in procedures.
You will be performing duties unique to functional areas which will include CAD modelling & programming, maintaining and improving standard designs.
You will be providing technical support to field start-up services, generating sales assistance, drawings, or calculations for Marketing.
You will be scheduling work flow for drafters and other engineering staff.
You will need to communicate with other departments to maintain schedule for purchasing, fabrication, construction, inspection, start-up, etc.
You will provide design calculations and documentation support for project work.
YoYou will be advising Project Management and Project Engineers of project status while adhering to all company and corporate policies.
You will be creating site layouts & equipment general assembly's using 3D Inventor.
You will be attending project meetings both internally & with clients.
You will need to perform detailed engineering calculations (including utilizing Mathcad).
You will be creating detailed Parts lists and Bill of Materials with applicable software.
You will provide input to & checking of Technical Manuals to ensure bespoke nature of equipment is captured. Salary/Rate: £24.00 to £30.00 per hour - Limited Company
