Medical Underwriter

My client is currently looking to recruit an experienced Medical Underwriter for their office in Bedford. The purpose of this role is to provide an accurate and efficient assessment of all types of income protection products, on terms correctly reflecting the risk to society.

For the right candidate if required there are opportunities to work from home 2-3 days per week after an initial training period.

The main duties will be underwriting new policies adhering to the societies underwriting and claims philosophy/procedures. You will liaise with the head of the underwriting department as and when necessary.

Managing your own workload, working to deadlines liaising with other departments and customers and dealing with general queries. Part of the role will be proving holiday and sickness cover to the claims assessor. You will also be asked to participate in special projects and product development.

Included in the job description will also be the preparation and providing statistical reports when required. The main criteria they are looking for is experience in a similar role, good customer service experience, excellent attention to detail and a working knowledge of the insurance field.
