Procurement Officer
We are currently recruiting for a Procurement Officer to join the Procurement Team. The Corporate Procurement team are responsible for all purchasing and contractual activities for Goods and Services Not For Re-Sale (GNFR) annual spend in excess of £150M sterling.
Procurement Officer - The role:
· To provide a comprehensive range of procurement services to internal customers with regard to all requirements for GNFR (encompassing both procurement, contracting and supplier management disciplines).
· To ‘keep the cost under control’ and, therefore, contribute to the overall profitability of the business, whilst ensuring the purchasing / contracts risks to the business are minimised.
· Contribute to achieving the Department targets for Savings & Rebates
You will have specific responsibility for the following:
§ Achieving procurement strategy.
§ Promoting the benefits and value of the Corporate Procurement Dept within the organisation.
§ Exploring all potential sources of supply.
§ Liaising with internal customers to determine the business requirement.
§ Building positive relationships with internal customers and suppliers
§ Chairing meetings with internal customers and suppliers.
§ Undertaking research activities regarding suppliers / business requirements.
§ Working with the appropriate Finance Managers to understand the status of the budgets and savings.
§ Drafting and issuing Invitation to Tenders to suppliers.
§ Analysing tender documentation.
§ Negotiating prices with suppliers.
§ Negotiating terms and conditions with suppliers.
§ Preparing summary papers recommending the way forward.
§ Support to Senior Procurement Specialist / Procurement Specialist, when required.
Procurement Officer - The candidate:
§ Minimum of 1 – 2 years procurement related work experience (Desirable).
§ Competent negotiator.
§ Sound commercial awareness (Retail & Procurement).
§ Effective time management skills.
§ Good communication and numerical skills.
§ Comprehensive PC skills.
§ Good organisation skills with the ability to prioritise workload to achieve timescales.
§ Self driven and motivated to achieve the required results.
§ Positive ‘can do’ approach and team ethic.
