Contract Project Buyer
Crawley, West Sussex
Rate up to £18.50/hr

My client is a world leading organisation that develops sophisticated state of the art tools and equipment for treating cancer and oncology disorders.

The key responsibility of this role is to be the interface between Purchasing and Engineering with regards to cost reduction initiatives and projects. The role requires the majority of activity to be concentrated on attending project meetings, reporting the Purchasing actions required, and in most cases taking that action in conjunction with the Senior Buyer. The role also includes reporting project milestones, mitigation planning, and escalation of any issue that may delay the project to the Senior Buyer, Purchasing Manager, and Engineering Manager / Team. The performance of the successful individual is defined and measured by goals and behaviours which achieve the delivery of any project to the agreed timeline and with the agreed cost reduction realisation.

Responsibilities:
"Participate in cross functional team meetings with regards to the selection of suppliers
according to the sourcing process.
"Place and expedite purchase orders as required.
"Implement the Purchasing tactics plan as directed.
"Manage all assigned tasks, escalating areas of concern.
"Support and promote good teamwork in the department and act in line with the company Values.
"Participate in the Product Creation Process to ensure early supplier involvement and meet cost
targets.
"Manage engineering changes with suppliers.
"Maintain an accurate order profile with suppliers.
"Additional responsibilities cover the interface duties between departments, and performing
the key tasks required to ensure all projects keep to the agreed project plan.

Qualifications:
"Background gained in Supply Chain Operations within a modern manufacturing environment.
"Working knowledge of interpreting modern ERP/MRP output and engineering change control
"Medical sector experience would be an advantage
"Experience of Movex ERP would be an advantage
"Knowledge of value engineering methodologies.
"Degree educated (eng, science, business admin, CIPS ) or equivalent combination of education
and work experience
"Strong interpersonal skills
"Can demonstrate exceeding KPIs in their existing company.
"Excellent MS word and excel skills
