We are working with a successful and well known Peterborough based company who are recruiting for a Buyer.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
As part of the budgeting process, propose plans for growth of the category and present these to the
Trading Manager.
?To work within the determined sourcing strategy to identify, source and purchase merchandise to meet
targets in terms of range width, customer choice and price.
To negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best possible prices for the customer whilst maintaining and developing supplier relationships.
To develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the market, supplier base, competitors and customer requirements for all products/services within their designated Category Area.
To provide input for comparative retail analysis to support price and positioning.
To deliver the budgeted buying in margin.
To meet the sourcing brief as outlined by the CPM.
Maximise sales and profit of trading group through effective management of the product proposition
through different channels to market.
?To ensure a high degree of product innovation and newness is delivered across the designated
category
To undertake visits as and when required ie, Trade shows, suppliers, foreign travel etc
Skills/Qualifications and Experience:
Experience with a blue chip retailer or catalogue/home shopping environment including a proven track
record of being in a buying position.
In depth knowledge of contract negotiations and experience of trading complexities associated with
branded merchandise.
Strong business acumen and highly results focused.
Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
