Purchasing Manager
A large independent manufacturing company based in Leicestershire is currently recruiting for an experienced Purchasing / Procurement Manager to join them as part of their ambitious and planned expansion. This person is responsible for selecting the most appropriate goods and services on the basis of price, quality, delivery times and services support for the business taking the business brand needs and customer interests into consideration. The role will involve, but not be limited to -
- Forecasting likely levels of demand for services, products and/or component parts to be used in any manufacturing process
- Conducting research to ascertain market trends and needs
- Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers
- Forecasting price trends and their impact on future activities
- Developing market knowledge and contacts for new products and services
- Giving presentations about market analysis and possible growth
- Developing an organisational purchasing strategy
- Identifying potential suppliers
- Producing reports and statistics using computer software
- Evaluating bids and making recommendations based on commercial Negotiating and agreeing contracts and monitoring their progress
- Creating purchase orders and sending to Suppliers as an order confirmation
- Keeping contract files and using them as reference for the future
- Ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives
- Liaising with users and other relevant parties
- Checking costs, quality and levels of service
- Keeping a constant check on stock levels to maximise business efficiency
- Attending production meeting daily
- Visiting distribution centres and suppliers as required
Candidates will need to show evidence of the following skills-
- Experience within the sheet metal and/or point of sale sector
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work, set targets and make strategic decisions
- The ability to work accurately and methodically under pressure
- IT knowledge
- Experience of the sheet metal industry
- Initiative, with problem-solving skills
- Numerical and verbal reasoning
- A high level of communication abilities, as the buyer is often the link between the shop floor and management
- Tact and the ability to persuade and negotiate
