Stress Engineer who is experienced in stress analysis using hand calculations and FEA methods now required to carry out a varied role including the analysis of high integrity equipment associated with the UK’s civil nuclear programme nuclear dry storage facilities (UK & overseas), naval dockyards, MOD establishments and naval ships & submarines.

Our client is a specialist in engineering services for the nuclear sector, and the successful candidate will be joining a well established safety analysis office of a major engineering and site services contractor addressing the large project services opportunities that are emerging within the UK’s mature nuclear market sectors. With capabilities spanning the entire lifecycle of requirements within the Nuclear industry incorporating high-integrity materials handling, process plant and control systems engineering, our client has an excellent reputation for providing solutions that are vital to their customers’ ability to deliver critical services.

You will typically be analysing structures that will include the following:

Nuclear cranes, fuelling machines and fuel handling equipment
Pressure vessels, pipework, pumps & valves
Reactor equipment
Nuclear fuel canisters & transportation casks
Mechanisms, grabs and hoists
Remote handling equipment & robotic arms
Structural steelwork
Weapons storage / handling systems
Ideally you will possess a background of nuclear engineering with a formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject.
