Engineering Manager – Satellite Communications, Defence.

ESSENTIAL qualification and experience needed by applicants
UK Bachelors Degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline.
Proven track record in similar role, managing teams and working to tight timescales
Good standard of written and spoken English.
Experience of design of satellite and radio (Tropo, High frequency, Digital Microwave Radio System, Secure Mobile Radio) communications systems and a detailed knowledge of space and other radio frequency bearer communications systems.
Business experience in the Defence Sector.
Experience in delivery of communications services.
Experience of living or working in the Middle East.
SC clearance.
Happy to travel to Saudi Arabia.


.Primarily a UK role, the Engineering Manager will be expected to come into contact with UK Ministry of Defence, suppliers, management and other corporate visitors. Travel to Saudi Arabia will be expected.
Fully accountable for effective management of the UK-based SDE engineering teams, and for their governance in line with processes.
Responsible for maintaining UK engineering competence at the required levels to meet customer needs.
Responsible for the assimilation and dissemination of leading engineering best practice and capability back to System Design Authority in KSA (Kingdom, of Saudi Arabia).


SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The UK Engineering Manager is responsible to the System Design Authority for the delivery of quality engineering output required to support customer facing functions. As such, the Engineering Manager will:
Ensure that best engineering design and practice is conducted to standards;
Provide a local System Design Authority function, managing local design reviews in line with office needs.
Be responsible for the appropriate management of the UK team with regard to commercial contractual obligations.
Be the prime European point of contact for technical matters.
Fully accountable for managing the UK engineering team and output within budget, and for completing appropriate commercial processes required to facilitate/support financial revenue.
Fully accountable for maintaining records of engineering effort/time in accordance with standard practice.
Responsible for delivering engineering operations to current best practice within budget constraints.
Travel to Saudi Arabia.
