Contract Technical Author / Technical Writer - Investment Banking Initial 3 month contract / £400 p/d
Key skills: Proven ability as a dedicated Technical Author / Technical Writer (ideally with experience of producing technical documentation for production support / infrastructure support IT environments. Documentation tools (MS Word, Visio, PaintShopPro/Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat) Electronic publishing (Wiki (Confluence) HTML, PDF, Internet) Information Design principles, Technology literate
Our client's business is at the very heart of the London banking community and is a stable member and well regarded institution within city finance circles. Our client's IT systems help support the trading of items such as derivatives swaps and fixed income products. Our client’s position in London will further benefit as the banking world adjusts to a more regulated and structured environment. As a highly established and one of just two preferred suppliers to this client we have been asked to recruit a contract Technical Author / Technical Author.
Essential Skills: To provide technical writing support for the IT Production Department, ensuring high quality deliverables are produced from efficient, cost-effective processes.
The individual will be specifically tasked with the creation of an on-line Wiki based IT Support Knowledge Management solution. On completion of the delivery the following capability will be embedded into the organization
To contribute to the development and continuous improvement of processes related to the Offshore Production Centre.
The successful candidate will have recently created an online Wiki based IT support knowledge management solution (preferably using the Confluence product). Any experience with working with offshore organisations would be a distinct advantage.
• Library definition and structure
• Full search capability
• Create online templates for the following:
• application documentation
• infrastructure documentation
• operational manuals
• standard operating procedures
• work instructions
• Transfer and creation of knowledge artefacts in the above format for inclusion in the IT Support knowledge base
• Definition of roles and responsibility associated to content management of the Knowledgebase
