Network Architect – Bristol – 4 month contract – circa £550/day

Our public sector client is looking for a Network Architect to join a Technology Division based in the South West. The role is to ensure that the architecture is as effective as possible in delivering the benefits to the whole of the division.The Network Architect will need to take a leading role in all matters relating to Network Architecture for all operational management systems. The role holder will work with stakeholders to determine current and future state network architecture. They will need to ensure that it aligns with SOA-based standards, principles and policies of the team.

Responsible for:•
Documenting existing voice and data network landscape in order to incorporate it into the overall infrastructure architecture (e.g. Visio Network Diagram)•
Working with other domain architects defining a To-Be state network architecture

Essential Knowledge/Skills/Experience:•
Track record as Network Architect (5 years +) in large-scale environments•
Experience of message-based (XML) communications•
Experience of modern, fibre-optic and Ethernet based IP and MPLS networks•
Experience of Open Standards and communications protocols•
Experience of Microsoft and Open Source Networking
Voice and Data integration – network convergence. Fixed and mobile convergence• Network security•
Experience of Network Operation Centres•
Working with a larger team of architects•
Work independently

Desirable:•
Working within Transport Sector or similar•
Network Certifications•
Experience of distributed and/or federated architectures across multiple network domains•
Experience of Civil Service/Public Sector•
Experience of dealing with outsourced service providers in a Technical Design Authority
