A highly successful third party logistics organisation are looking for their next addition in their Transport Team.
The responsibilities of the Transport Manager are as follows:
Manage the planning department and drivers to ensure compliance of the tachograph laws and all correct records are kept and all infringements are dealt with. Management of the fleet to ensure compliance of the maintenance procedures. Correspondence with the Department of Transport to ensure compliance. To maintain maintenance wall planner and keep all records filed in accordance to Vosa recommendations. Keep size of fleet within budget and customer requirements. Recruiting the right employees to reduce the recruitment costs and turnover of personnel. Assessment of current personnel to provide knowledge of current and future training requirements. Correlate and use information to provide realistic targets and weekly performance report packages for planners. Set up formal weekly planning meetings using information obtained for long term planning goals. Obtaining information from timesheets to calculate the efficiency of the transport planning. Using cost of wages to turnover generated per driver to gauge percentage values and act upon low efficiencies. Compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act. The provisions of permits to work and the evaluation of employees within the company. Investigation and correct reporting of all accidents using the standard, all accidents are avoidable.

Ideally the Transport Manager will be educated to degree level or equivalent, be able to demonstrate a proven track record of managing a diverse and complex distribution operation, possess a strong financial comprehension and ability to manage substantial budgets, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, motivate and develop a large team, demonstrate good knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures and ideally hold a CPC qualification at National Level.
