Within our Commercial division in Head Office we’re always looking for new talent.

If you’ve identified that University isn't the path you'd like to take, but you believe you have the drive and the ability to develop a career within Tesco, then we can offer you the opportunity to get on.

Trainee Buying opportunities are open to students who have completed their A Levels, have 240 UCAS and are looking for an alternative to university.

It isn't an easier option, just a different route. You'll have shown through your exam results that you have the drive to succeed.

Our Buyers work to source and deliver a great range of quality products that our customers want to buy.

What is Buying?

Using a combination of product knowledge, in depth customer insight and previous sales results, our buyers source, negotiate and manage our range of products to ensure we continue to give our customers what they want at great prices.

Developing relationships and negotiating with suppliers is an essential part of the role, as is great understanding of your customer and the product you are buying.

The commercial division is incredibly fast-paced and challenging. There will be a lot to learn but we will support you all the way to give you the training you need to become an expert within your field and develop your career at Tesco and realise your potential.

What we are looking for?

We're looking for applicants who have the potential to become experts within their field, you'll need to demonstrate that you have a great understanding of our business, our customers and the industries in which we compete to ensure we remain the number 1 retailer.

To be successful you'll need:

• 240 UCAS points. Including GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above for more information on other qualifications and UCAS points, please check the UCAS point's tariff.

• A numerical and analytical mind
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Great commercial awareness
• The ability to manage and prioritise your workload whilst working in a fast-paced environment
• The desire to work in an office environment
• Intermediate computer skills including Word and Excel
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team and on your own
• A desire to drive your own career and the aspiration to be one of our stars of the future.
