Reporting to the Production Manager but Closely liasing with the Design Department & Cell Leaders you will undertake projects to improve production according to Lean principles
New product introduction: manage the process to ensure swift and accurate introduction to production
Production operation: support Production Manager in the day to day operation of scheduling, including holding meetings with sales and purchasing in his absence.
Distribution operation: check departmental progress against required plan.
Quality: review and establish benchmarks, keep record of rework and waste, improve the quality of the product for each department.
Lean training: gain and interpret knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques with the objective of introducing them to the Company.
Also assist in machinery review and updating.
Produce reports for above and routing documents for production
Assist in general production issues, to include equipment and building maintenance.

Activities
To provide professional electrical engineering support in carrying out projects related to the technical systems of the facility.
The key duties of the post are to
Interact closely with in-house and external engineering staff in support of projects as assigned.
Provide creative, innovative and adaptive solutions to problems involved with the electrical engineering systems and provide professional input to the electrical design, manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning phases.
Produce design calculations to predict performance of designs prior to manufacture.
Produce layouts and design concepts, ideally employing AutoCAD.
Negotiate, agree and write technical specifications, produce and monitor project management plans including Gantt charts, resource and procurement plans.
Make presentations of project status and technical issues at project meetings.
Contribute to hazard analysis and risk assessment exercises.
Work within procedures and contribute to their development.
Supervise internal and contract staff.
Keep up to date with relevant technology and industry best practice.
Maintain and Manage project files containing all relevant project documentation.
Qualifications and Experience Essential
The successful candidate is likely to have the following skills and experience.
Honours degree or equivalent in relevant discipline.
Minimum 2 years responsibility for electrical aspects of small projects, completing specifications and managing to time, cost and quality.
Self motivated and with ability to provide ideas and creative solutions to design problems.
Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
Experience in the procurement, installation and commissioning of engineering systems.
Some experience of supervising technical or design staff.
An awareness of safety design methodology and, in particular, how it should be applied to electrical equipment and circuits.
Good understanding of electrical engineering drawings.
Day to day use of standard office based computer systems.
Experience of working in a team.
Qualifications and Experience Desirable
Engineering Council registration and membership of relevant professional body.

SENIOR METALLURGIST
Salary £39-40,000 depending on experience Engineering Consultancy Services (ECS) team provides technical solutions to owners and operators of large capital value assets in the UK and overseas. Clients are drawn from utility companies, oil and gas, industry, built environment, insurers and loss adjusters.
ECS has a vacancy for a Senior Metallurgist operating from our offices in Leatherhead, Surrey from where we provide office and field-based consultancy services to refinery, petrochemical and power plant clients on an international basis. The services that we provide include condition assessment, materials and design consultancy, fitness for purpose and forensic engineering services covering mechanical (static and rotating) and electrical equipment.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree standard in metallurgy or materials engineering and will have knowledge of degradation mechanisms affecting high temperature steels, on-site metallurgical testing techniques, condition and remaining life assessment in the petrochemical and power generation industries.
The successful applicant will work as part of a team of mechanical engineers, metallurgists, material scientists and electrical engineers. The work is varied and challenging and there will be opportunities for foreign travel.
This is a senior technical post requiring a high level of previous knowledge and experience. However, candidates with less experience including graduate level applicants will be considered for more junior positions which offer excellent opportunities for professional advancement.
