Services, in particular maintenance and refurbishment services, are another key element of its business activities. The activities of the company are divided up into three segments: Industrial Cranes, Port Technology and Services.

Working from home, within a 50 mile radius, the role of Service Engineer involves the service, repair, installation, commissioning, inspection and testing of Port Equipment (container handling) and electric overhead gantry cranes on customer sites.
Although much work will be port based – Southampton, Felixstowe, Dover etc – work will also be undertaken on inland sites (container bases etc) where they may work with other Field Service Technicians.

As a Welding Engineer you must have a European Welding Engineer or International Welding Engineer degree.
As a Welding Engineer you must have a minimum 3-5 years relevant experience.
As a Welding Engineer It is essential that you have experience in a production company in the steel industry-preferably in the wind energy or offshore industry.
As a Welding Engineer you must have experience with submerged arc welding and flux-cored welding.

You will be fully conversant with National and International specification.
You will have the ability to formulate weld procedure specifications and execute welding procedure Qualification tests within a diverse range of parent materials.
Fully Conversant with using computer software (Word, Access and Excel etc.)
You will develop where required, review and approve fabrication, welding and inspection specifications.

Evaluate project requirements and where applicable provide the necessary welding procedural information in order to cover the project scope.
Monitor production to ensure that welding is being conducted in line with the company welding control procedures.
Review and approve post weld heat treatment and non-destructive examination procedures where necessary.
Ensure welders are qualified and their certificates are prepared and maintained in accordance with company control procedures.
Review contract weld repair rates and produce on a monthly basis an analysis of total repairs for the company.
Research new technologies that could optimize production.

You will have an extremely important role in relation to ensuring quality and optimizing the welding procedures, which are both important factors to ensure growth of the business. Some international travel may be required, which will also give you the opportunity to develop personally and professionally.

You will be working Monday – Thursday (8am-4.30pm) Friday (8am-1.30pm).

The salary would be up to up to 50k dependant on experience

Control systems will need to be looked into for possible faults as well as general fault finding and strips and re-builds will need to take place. All relevant paperwork, and measurements will also be required to be completed for all jobs carried out by each engineer.

Diesel field service engineers will receive a company vehicle for the necessary trips to recover breakdowns, and after the 3 month probationary period, a 5% bonus is given in order to cover any overtime which is worked.

Currently, there are 3 engineers carrying out this work, but due to an expanding customer base, our client requires an extra field service engineer to fix the diesel engines. The successful Field Service Engineer may also be required to travel to the Newcastle site to help out if required.

This is a permanent role for the successful Diesel Engine Service Engineer.
