A leading private hospital is seeking a speech and language therapist who has adult experience in the areas of acquired swallowing (Dysphagia) and communication disorders (Dysphasia). Tracheostomy experience would also be a distinctive advantage. The post is split between acute and rehab (half and half) and would be 37.5 hours per week - full-time. You will be a Registered medical practitioner MRCPsych an advantage.
Have Three years experience of psychiatry at SHO/staff grade level and experience in forensic psychiatry

Clinical and Administrative Duties for either of the above posts
The staff medical officer will work with the consultant psychiatrist (who acts as responsible medical officer for the purposes of the Mental Health Act 1983) to provide medical care for a defined in-patient group. It is expected that the staff medical officer will undertake the day-to-day co-ordination of treatment.
The staff medical officer will provide medical care in respect of psychiatric and physical health. Physical health care will be provided in conjunction with visiting general practitioners.
The staff medical officer will be clinically responsible to consultant colleagues.
The staff medical officer will participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings and regular Care Programme Approach reviews/case conferences.
The staff medical officer will, from time to time and under appropriate supervision, assist the consultant psychiatrist in the preparation of reports for case conferences and statutory purposes such as mental health review tribunals. It is expected, however, that the main responsibility for statutory reports lies with the consultant, as the responsible medical officer under the Mental Health Act 1983.
The post will require regular liaison with other agencies involved with the care of patients such as referring NHS agencies, solicitors and the Home Office.
The staff medical officer will be able to participate in the referrals process for the hospital, including referrals meetings and assessments.
The staff medical officer will participate in the on-call rota for the hospital. The on-call will not be residential but the staff medical officer will be required to be within reasonable reach of the hospital.
The staff medical officer will be given the opportunity to work in the in-reach team on a session basis.
The staff medical officer will be encouraged to participate in clinical audit and other aspects of clinical governance. Further education and research will be encouraged.
The exact content of the job will be adapted according to the specific interests and experience of the successful candidate. The duties are subject to review from time to time in the light of changing requirements of the service.
The staff medical officer will be provided with desk space and appropriate secretarial support services.
