The role is focused on providing first class IT support to users and is very much hands-on with responsibility for maintaining the IT Infrastructure and responding to a variety of user issues. The role is ideally suited to a candidate with a good broad based IT knowledge, perhaps gained working on an IT helpdesk, who is seeking a more technical role with exposure to networking and infrastructure.

Working as part of a busy team in a managed service environment, the appointed individual will be responsible for the delivery, configuration and management of all Data Comms Services. The role will involve responding to incidents and support issues and managing changes. In addition you will be involved, from time to time, with project work as necessary. This is very much a hands-on role working as part of a dedicated Data Comms team under the guidance of an experienced Data Comms Manager.
For consideration candidates must have 2 or more years experience supporting a highly technical data comms service within an end user environment. As a minimum you must have a good understanding of Core and edge data switches, Internet proxy appliances, IP routing & routers, Firewalls, IPSEC/SSL VPNs and structured cabling. A brand new opportunity has arisen with our Birmingham based client calling upon the skills of an experienced Progress Analyst Programmer. Working as part of a busy team for this International end user organisation, you will be required to provide valuable development expertise for MFG Pro systems. You will work on a variety of core projects taking requirements from users and delivering an appropriate new solution / system enhancement. Development will predominantly be centred around Progress v8, MFG Pro and PHP.
We require applications from candidates with a minimum of 5 years commercially gained development experience using MFG Pro and Progress v8. It is likely you will have worked in a distribution, manufacturing or automotive environment and you should have a good understanding of PHP (minimum 3 years). Any familiarity with StreamServe, Octavio and/or Bar-Coding would be advantageous but is not essential. Good interpersonal and communication skills are required.
