Principal Embedded Software Architect - Stevenage - up to 55K What's the opportunity? We are looking for a highly capable, adaptable and inquisitive Embedded Software Architect to help us develop the next generation of advanced missile systems. This client produce some of the most advanced missile systems in the world - we are looking for a software architect to work with us to develop the next generation of products whilst maintaining our enviable reputation for safety, performance and dependability. What will you be doing? The role is based at our Stevenage development facility. You will be helping to design the embedded software architectures for a range of missile related systems and product lines - including Radar Seekers, Infrared imagers, Datalinks, Telemetry Subsystems, Actuators and Launchers. This is a senior role, and you will be central to ensuring that our product architectures perform to the highest standards safely and securely. Though this is primarily an architecture role, you will be expected to take an active role in development and integration, working with our development teams to take the product from concept to production. Who and what we are looking for from you? Ideally you will have a good degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electronics combined with significant experience in the design, development and integration of complex hard real-time embedded systems. It is preferred that your experience was gained in defence, automotive, aerospace, telecoms or consumer electronics. If you have a natural curiosity and tenacity, like to get involved in the 'bigger picture' and enjoy problem solving then this is likely to be the role for you. We are looking for people that have a professional, collaborative approach - coupled with a real enthusiasm and drive to deliver excellent solutions in complex development environments. You must be comfortable working with some degree of ambiguity and adept at seeing through to the nub of a problem, bringing other people along with you. Ideally you will have a good background in software safety with knowledge of standards such as DO-178B/C, DefStan 00-55 or IEC-61508 and restricted coding standards such as MISRA / SPARK. You will have experience in model-based development, using UML and tools such as Rhapsody and Simulink to produce solutions. It is likely that you will be regarded as "the person to talk to" when developing software architectures using these techniques in your current organisation. You will have significant previous experience with embedded C and/or C++ and possibly some Ada, and a good knowledge of multi-core ARM and PowerPC platforms, Real Time Operating Systems and Hypervisors.
