Highways Engineer - Approvals Engineer Duration - 6 Months London 290-320 per day Working for an established organisation, the ideal candidate will be required to act as the approving authority for highway elements of high profile and prestigious schemes on behalf of the client. Working collaboratively with developers, contractors and colleagues, you will ensure that all decisions / changes and approvals are programmed in a timely manner and are delivered expediently. You will be accountable for approving detailed designs, third party works and working methodologies relative to allocated schemes. You will be able to read and interpret technical drawings, capable of producing detailed sketches to facilitate production of drawings, schedules and the like for complex jobs. Have experience in managing resources, budgets, projects and programs of work to deliver results to time and cost. Applying value management and value engineering techniques. The ideal candidate will have gained knowledge and experience in the area of highway design, street lighting and highway drainage as appropriate, to ensure that the design standards in proposals from developers and other parts of Surface Transport are appropriately and consistently assessed. You will have an in-depth understanding of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW), and relevant British and European Standards. In addition, you will have working knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts.
