Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) forms a core part of the development of new products, and over the years it has become recognised as a specific engineering activity to ensure all the issues that could affect the long-term support of a product are addressed as early as possible within the product's project life cycle. Supportability engineers use a number of civilian and military standards during their work. Responsibilities Depending on the stage of the particular project, the ILS Supportability Engineer will be accountable to the ILS Manager for: 1.Scoping and developing the most appropriate support strategy. 2.Successfully influencing the product design to enhance in-service supportability. 3.Designing and developing the support solution for the product. 4.Delivering all the mandated support elements.
