My client is currently looking for a Systems Engineer based in Borehamwood.
Purpose of the Job:
Assist with subsystem and application design of aspects of long distance high reliability Low Voltage Signaling Power Distribution Systems and ensure solutions meet legal and project requirements.
Ensure completion of subsystems within the Work Package to the requirements of Quality, Cost and Delivery.
Responsibilities:
1 DELIVERY
Commitment to the delivery of work package solutions within the individuals own sub system/function. Seek clarification and review with the Project Lead Systems Engineer/Work Package Owner on scope and progress of work within the sub system/function.
2 INFORMATION REPORTING
Responsible for providing reports as required, the individuals work packages.
3 COMPANY STANDARDS COMPLIANCE
Responsible for working within the company standards and procedures when delivering work package solutions.
4 DEVELOPMENT OF SIL BUSINESS
Ensure conformity of Systems standards and Systems architecture, processes and procedures with those agreed at corporate level and defined by Heads of Department.
Educational Requirements:
Degree level or equivalent education / Experience in Electrical / Electronic.
Technical Knowledge / Experience:
o Approx. 2 – 3 Years experience working in an Electrical / Electronic / Engineering Environment – preferably rail, power distribution or process control industries.
o Experience of design of LV power distribution systems and interfacing to HV systems using power systems design software (AMTECH or equivalent) to achieve compliance with standards which may include BS7671 and appropriate EC directives.
o Application of techniques of system protection, discrimination, load assessment and diversity to system design.
o Experience of redundant systems which may include UPS and automatic feeder switching.
o An appreciation of SCADA/Telecoms interface to the power system.
o Experience of preparation of specification reports for electrical distribution equipment and panels/enclosures.
o Experience of managing suppliers and subcontractors though subcontract purchasing.
o Exposure to CDM regulations or Safety approval processes
o Capable of understanding interface to signalling systems.
o English mandatory. Strong technical literacy and interpersonal team-working skills.
o Business awareness of infrastructure cost drivers of high reliability, and low installed and operational costs. Understanding of the railway industry.
