Top four Practice and Audit firm need a VAT assistant to start on the 15th of September for a interim role, up until Xmas. 15-16ph
**This will involve completing a major VAT return due at the end of November**
Responsible for:
- Extracting the correct information from the accounting system, such that accurate VAT and related statistical returns can be rendered to HMRC.
- To ensure that VAT is properly charged/not charged as appropriate on invoices issued and claimed/not claimed as appropriate on purchase invoices from information contained in the records and resulting research
- Ensuring that the accounting records promptly report correct values for the VAT returns.
- To communicate when potential errors are identified and educate as necessary with the aim of improving standards
- Prepare the figures for the VAT returns and reconcile to ledger.
- Prepare other VAT claims and statistical returns as required.
You should have:
- General, broad based, large business accounting experience involving both balance sheet and profit and loss accounts – be aware of how a large business is organised. Posess a demonstrable understanding of the full range of accounting areas e.g. Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cashier etc.
- Can operate and reconcile control accounts and clear them regularly.
- Familiarity with SAP.
- Be able to work accurately to fixed deadlines and to schedule work well in advance to meet those deadlines.

The main duties include:
¨Input invoices onto the Oracle Financials System including matching with existing Purchase Orders and Goods Receipts Notices

The successful candidate will be responsible for the entire credit control & sales ledger process and have previous experience in commerce and industry.
