LISTGROVE RECRUITMENT – JOB DESCRIPTION PLASTICS  PACKAGING  PETROCHEMICALS  CHEMICALS  ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT Shift Supervisor/Manager Job ref: AZ /22671 Salary: c.£28,000 Location: Hereford & Worcester Reports to: Production Manager reporting to the Operations Manager Hours of Work: Shift hours to be confirmed Anticipated to be a 4pm to 1:00 am and midnight to 9 am, rotating every 2 weeks Overtime: As required this will include weekends and bank holidays. Other Benefits: Phone 25 Days Holiday entitlement Sickness Pay The Role The ideal candidate would have worked in a supervisory capacity in a plastic manufacturing business It would certainly be advantageous if the person has Blown Film extrusion knowledge & knowledge of bag conversion machines. The ability to solve operational problems is essential to the role, as is the individual’s man management and team working approach. The individual must provide evidence of being fully aware of safety, health and environmental issues that affect the business. The candidate must possess a positive and can do attitude, problem solving skills are essential as the individual will have sole responsibility out of normal working hours for all operational aspects. Required Experience: Supervisory experience in a continuous manufacturing environment. Blown Film Extrusion experience. Experience of conversion machinery –bag making machines. Worked and managed a continental shift system. Be able to effectively liaise with support departments to achieve operational efficiency. Be able to administer the Companies Disciplinary procedures. Aware of the Safety Health and Environmental issues and legislation as related to the business. PC literate so as to be able to input production data into a data base, be conversant with email, spreadsheets and word processor packages The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate experience in the areas listed above and be able to take complete control as and when required. Commit and fully execute the role to ensure that we satisfy business and customer expectations in all aspects of commercial business and profit. Drive and create an environment that drives Company brand excellence and develop colleagues to expected levels of competency ensuring that the Companies talent pool is continually protected. Key Objectives Managing Operations Prepare as required budget projects and plans to support business plan development To Liaise and drive with Area Managers & Shift leaders to ensure that work is planned to meet internal / external customer delivery requirements adopting Standard work and Production System work principles. (Customer 1st) In line with company policy define and set KPI targets for all areas and support functions as required and review to ensure they are executed in a timely manner Implement / apply principles of PDCA to drive philosophy of Standard work, 6S PPS KPS and KDS polices To coordinate the activities of personnel in the promotion of teamwork and harness the contribution of colleagues with Practical Problem Solving (PPS) To identify and manage the manpower resource requirements for the monthly build plan to increase / decrease as required (Promptly) to achieve budget. To analyse absenteeism, scrap and production audit records on a weekly basis and implement the necessary remedial action. To produce formal monthly reports as requested on production figures, scrap, up-time etc. for presentation to Senior Management Develop an environment that encourages commitment, creativity, participation, ownership, achievement and recognition.
