Due to expansion there is now a vacancy for a Field Engineering Manager to join a leading organisation working within the oil and gas industry. Salary package is c£45,000 + health + car, role is based in Woking, Surrey.

Reporting to the Technical Director, the Manager will be responsible for planning, organising, directing and co-ordinating the work of the Oil & Gas Development Team in supporting both the company and its customers. Working closely with major Oil & Gas customers to identify development opportunities, promote the Company's capabilities, gain development contracts and deliver significant new business within this field.


Main Tasks:

Liaise closely with Marketing & Operations Departments to ensure that Oil & Gas R&D work is in parallel with the company's objectives.

Be a budget owner of own area, putting forward annual budgets for approval, & managing those budgets once approved.

Be responsible for recruiting, developing & motivating the team.

Set overall goals & objectives for the Oil & Gas Engineering team which contribute to, and support, the company's business strategy.

Work closely with major Oil and Gas customers to identify development opportunities & subsequently deliver on those chosen.

Plan the manpower resource needs 1 - 2 years ahead & recruit, develop & assess staff to meet these requirements.

Liaise with marketing & operations departments to identify and prioritise business opportunities.

Maintain clear & open communications in own team, with other functions and externally with suppliers and customers to sustain visibility of objectives & progress against targets.

Act as an authority & pass on technical knowledge of process or product to develop the level of expertise in the organisation.

Act as project leader for major oil and gas projects to ensure objectives are met within time & cost constraints.

Working closely with the Process Engineering Manager develop manufacturing processes simultaneously with material developments to ensure that seamless product introduction is the norm.

Liaise with other functions / plants within the company to exchange information on materials, processes, product & quality issues to promote best practice and standardise approaches across the organisation.

Keep abreast of market developments

Carry out design reviews & act as design authority for critical projects.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree qualified in a technical field

Minimum 10 years progressive experience in product design & development role in oil and gas

5 years management experience

Production management experience

7. Maintain the journey / job details on the traffic sheet so you have a record of all activities and the information can be used by the team to assess available resource and forward plan activity.
8. Control the printing of freight contracts and drivers' instructions relevant to specific consignments and issue paperwork and/or send SMS text messages, as appropriate, to owner/drivers or sub-contractors.
